Security systems are not all created equal. With the dangers involved with the current level of crime it is almost always essential for people to have security systems in their homes. It is not about thieves breaking into homes when no one is in the house. They are now brave enough to break into homes with entire families inside the house. Having security systems with panic buttons or that are simply turned on while you are at home can be a great deterrent.
Regardless of whether anyone is home or not, the sound of an alarm is almost a guarantee to scare off any potential thief. The loud noise from security systems being triggered will attract attention from those in the immediate vicinity plus it will alert the police department at the same time. This could be as simple as a motion detector in part of the house going off or proof that a door has been knocked open.
Other reasons to have security systems installed is for the benefit of fire and ambulance response. There are different alarms for each and a reputable company will have corresponding alert buttons on the alarm keypad. This allows for the fire department to be dispatched to your home if the smoke alarm goes off. This happens regardless if anyone is home or not. If there is a need for medical services, the push of a button will alert the switchboard at the security systems home so that the correct medical team can be notified.
Security systems are not simply for keeping out thieves, but for keeping your home and family safe from harm. This could be from crime, fire, or medical emergencies.
